Attract and hold more waterfowl to your property with the addition of waterfowl food sources. Water is essential but then add the food and watch the birds come in. People have been planting food plots for pheasants, deer and turkeys for years...why not food plots for waterfowl too! All items are harvested locally in the Midwest. Due to being seasonal, please place orders in advance to assure availability.
Installation is done a few ways...
Option 1. Find the right texture mud and roll tubers/buds into mud balls and allow to dry hard. Place in water once dry. Concern is being able to find mud that works for this and the other concern is if the mud ball dissolves the tubers/buds will float to the surface.
Option 2. Push a nail (U fencing nail works well) through the tuber/bud to provide it with a weight to sink to the bottom. Easy enough but you are throwing metal (nails) into your ponds. It is up to you.
Option 3. RECOMMENDED: Take a small brown paper bag (penny bag) and place a quarter cup of sand in the bottom. Then put 3 to 5 tubers/buds in. Then cover with another half cup of sand. Put two staple in the top of the bag but do not fold the bag. Put these bags in a cooler for hauling. Gently release the bags into the water so they sink to the bottom. The bag hides the tubers/buds from predators, the sand provides a growing medium, and the tubers/buds grow out the top of the bag. A little more time invested but well worth the increased chance of success! You can order bags from us as well.
Prefers 12 to 36 inch water depths, variable soils from sandy to mucky.
Rate - 3 lbs. or 1,000 tubers per acre
Sago is harvested in April and May and delivered until sold out.
SECURE EARLY as we harvest from the wild and there are limited amounts.
** When you receive your sago, we recommend the following:
1. Store in refrigerator. When transporting, keep sago out of sun and heat. It will start germinating or worse it will start fermenting.
2. Install sago as soon as possible for best results.
